03/25/2011: "BUG Match This Month"

The match this Saturday will include our annual BUG (Back Up Gun) match as well as regular stages. It will be run by Jeff Herrman and the Ottawa crew. It's always a fun match. If you don't know which guns meet the BUG standards,, go to the IDPA website (www.idpa.com) and look on page 26 of the rulebook. Remember no holsters are needed and you will not have to reload on the clock for the BUG match, maximum shots per string is 5. We usually allow you to shoot the course with your regular gun but not for score. Speaking of scores, I wasn't able to get them to our webmaster in a timely manner this month, but they should be up shortly.

We all know that we are accountable for every shot fired in a self defense situation. With that in mind, it has become a habit to recognize those shooters with the least amount of points dropped during the match. This month we had 2 shooters that shot the entire match without dropping a single point. Congratulations to Terry Ladage and Mark Linder. We also had 4 shooters that only dropped 1 point, again very impressive. Congratulations to Kevin Cavanaugh, Craig Caplan, Travis Moats and Stan Thompson.

ROs this month are Jeff Hermann and Billy Miller, assisted by Vic Grabbe and Igor Gantman.

We had a large turnout last match. 35 Shooters competing with a total of 43 guns. You are welcome to shoot one, two, or as many different guns as you want at our local matches. Some like to shoot it a second time with the same gun. This isn't a problem, just remember to see the person at the desk for an additional scoresheet. $2.00 for each additional time thru the match. Every month someone doesn't put their division on the scoresheet. Make sure you do or you will be in the UNK division. If you aren't for sure which division your gun belongs, ask at the desk.

Last month a number of shooter shot with us that haven't competed in years. Welcome back, hope you enjoyed yourself and will make it on a regular basis.

Bring your BUG gun and have a great match on Saturday.
