Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!!

This Saturday is the first match of the new year. Hope to see you all at 10am at the Bullet Hole. Tommy Herken and Doug Smith will be the SOs. I know they have a couple of good matches scheduled try to make it to the match.

Doug will be conducting a BUG (Back Up Gun) match. BUG rules will be followed. If you don’t know if the gun you want to use is legal for a BUG gun, go to the IDPA website (or your rulebook) and see if it’s listed. Other items of interest for BUG matches; no more than 5 rounds in any one string, no reloads, no drawing from a holster. We know everyone might not have a gun meeting criteria, but I am sure someone will have one you can borrow. You might have to buy the ammo upstairs in order to shoot the stage, but it can be done. I’m guessing if you have some factory 38 special available, you will be able to find a gun to shoot the stage. For those of you that don’t have a gun and don’t want to shoot the match as a BUG match, we will allow you to use your regular gun to shoot the stage, but you will be scored separately and won’t be listed in the BUG results.

January is the time of the year to renew your membership in the club. This will require several things. First it costs $20 to join the Kansas City Shooting Masters. This will allow you to shoot at the member rate of $8.00 per match instead of the non-member rate of $13.00. You will need to be a member of the Bullet Hole range so bring your card – more on this in a bit. You will also need to show membership in a 2nd Amendment organization. The most obvious is the NRA, but it could be Gun Owners of America or others. Bring proof of current membership and we will decide if that organization meets the intent of this requirement. Last and certainly not least, be prepared to run or help run 2 matches this calendar year. It is a lot of work putting on these monthly matches and this helps spread the load to all of our members. New members shouldn’t be concerned about this requirement. We will match newer shooters with those with more experience. The experienced shooters will be the SOs and the new shooters will be Assistant SOs. This will allow the new guys to get some experience and next year they can run the stage as the SO. Those of you that have been ASOs for the last couple of years; well it’s time you became SOs. If you have problems designing a match, we can work that out. The BOD can help you design a good IDPA match; you can set it up and run it.

Remember if you are working on a stage, it is your responsibility to arrange to have it setup, run it, and tear it down and put the equipment away. We are guests at the Bullet Hole and the BH staff expects us to clean up after ourselves and put all the equipment back in an orderly manner. Make sure it is locked up, the door to the storage room locked and the key returned to the desk upstairs. Get a couple of friends to help out and it really doesn’t take too long to setup or tear down.

Important!!! We have changed the procedure for match registration this year. You will have to show your Bullet Hole membership card at the desk EACH month. Don’t go off and forget you card. Jim Barber will want to see proof of membership each month.

Thanks for all of the help you give to the Board every year. Let’s make this year a great year and above all, Keep It Safe!!!!
